Seeing & Unseeing in John's Gospel – January 4, 2026
Monday Jan 05, 2026
Monday Jan 05, 2026
Throughout this series, we will journey alongside many in the Gospel of John who do not truly “see” Jesus at first, but eventually come to a new way of “seeing” him. We hope both to recognize more clearly the presence of Jesus in our lives, and to learn what prevents us from recognizing Jesus at work in our midst.
This week, Todd teaches on John 1, calling us to a more expansive, compassionate faith—one shaped not by power or certainty, but by attentive love that moves us toward others and the good of the world.

Advent, These Days – Dec 14, 2025
Monday Dec 15, 2025
Monday Dec 15, 2025
During the four weeks leading up to Christmas we will be waiting with anticipation and preparing our hearts for the arrival of Jesus.
This week, Andrea reflects on an unexpected vision of the nativity—rather than settling for a safe or polished version of Christmas, she invites us to remember that Jesus comes into a broken world, where vulnerability and danger coexist. It encourages us to hold onto the familiar story of the baby in the manger while staying open to the deeper truth that God’s unexpected light is stronger than any darkness.

During the four weeks leading up to Christmas we will be waiting with anticipation and preparing our hearts for the arrival of Jesus.
This week, Todd reflects on Advent as a season of both unexpected darkness and unexpected, incomparable light, inviting us to stay open to moments of wonder—even small or silly ones—as signs of God’s hope breaking into the world through Jesus, the light of the world. It encourages a posture of readiness, not by forcing expectations on the season, but by being willing to see grace in ordinary moments.

Friday Jan 10, 2025
Friday Jan 10, 2025
The third in a series of consoling, challenging and enlivening conversations led by Kim and Todd about what we think it means to be a Christian today and how the way we hold our faith has implications for our church community and our daily lives.
This third session focuses on questions about belonging - what does it mean to be 'a church', what does it mean to "belong to a church" in a time such as this.
This session was recorded on January 9, 2025.

Where is Cap Located? Session 2
Friday Jan 10, 2025
Friday Jan 10, 2025
The second session in a series of consoling, challenging and enlivening conversations led by Kim and Todd about what we think it means to be a Christian today and how the way we hold our faith has implications for our church community and our daily lives.
This time we consider what it looks like to pass our Christian faith on to others, especially (but not exclusively) to the generation that comes after us. As we consider the theological, cultural, and political landscape in which we find ourselves, these evenings are intended to help us articulate and embody our faith in Jesus.
This session was recorded on Thursday November 28, 2024.

Where Are We Located? Session 1
Friday Jan 10, 2025
Friday Jan 10, 2025
The first of a series of consoling, challenging and enlivening conversations led by Kim and Todd about what we think it means to be a Christian today and how the way we hold our faith has implications for our church community and our daily lives.
In this first session, we hope to address some of the questions that have been posed:
God doesn’t change, but over the years my Christian faith and beliefs have changed. Is that OK?
How do I instill faith in my kids in ways that are intentional, invitational and not harmful?
Is there a “Christian” view on various hot-button topics like abortion, or medical assistance in dying?
Where is CapChurch theologically in relation to other churches on the North Shore?
Answers to these questions come from articulating what we think is core to Christian faith, what we are meant to hold onto more loosely, and how we integrate these things with our daily lives.
This first session was held on Wednesday October 23, 2024.

Sunday Jan 05, 2025
The first All Church of 2025 and the start of our new series in the Gospel of Luke. This Sunday Kim helps us consider Mary’s revolutionary song in Luke 1:46-55.
“This is the Great Reversal: the last in line put at the head of the line, and the so-called first ending up last.”
Luke 13:30
(The Message)
This Winter and Spring, join us for a leisurely walk through the Gospel of Luke as we pay attention to the many places in Luke’s gospel where the Kingdom of God breaks in and we find our expectations of who is ‘powerful’ and who is ‘weak’ are overturned.
